Getting Dressed When You Have Big Boobs

Rock what your momma gave ya

When you have big boobs every one of your friends lets you know how lucky you are, but if only they knew the true struggles. Sometimes it takes hours to find an outfit that looks appropriate or doesn’t make you look like the letter “P”. On top of that you want to wear a comfy bra so your back and shoulders don’t hurt from carrying those things. Ultimately, us bigger chested ladies are pretty blessed. We can rock those bodycon dresses for sure, but sometimes you don’t want to show off the girls!

From my nearly 8 years of experience with big chesticles I have come up with some tips that make having big boobs easier for me and help me get dressed. Big boobs can easily become the focal point of any outfit and I’ve found some ways around that. I by no means think anyone needs to minimize their chest. I totally support rocking what you got going on. However, personally I feel best when I dress with my big boobs in mind and I think many people with DDD+ sized breasts feel the same way.

  1. Black tops are your best friend

I cannot stress this enough! Nearly every black top will make your chest look modest. It automatically tones them down and has a slimming effect. Any type of black shirt works for this. Wearing black all the time can seem boring, but remember you can always accessorize with fun pants, jewelry and shoes!!

2. V-neck/ scoop-neck blouses are flattering

Invest in some high-quality blouses. Scoop-neck and v-neck styles flatter bigger busts and can show off a modest amount of cleavage too! I specifically search for peplum blouses because they cinch at the waist. For other blouses I recommend always tucking the front of the shirt into your pants to show off your waist and avoid the dreaded tent look!

3. Athletic outfits are always cute and comfy

Athletic outfits always look good because you can wear a sports bra, which automatically tones down the ladies. Then pair that with basically your favorite work-out top or hoodie and you are set to go. Athleta has this crop top made for ladies with bigger chests w/ a built in bra! It’s so comfortable and even though it’s technically for working-out I wear it out with jeans because it’s just that cute. I’ve bought two so far and will definitely be buying more!

4. Jackets

Jackets are an awesome way to accessorize and take attention away from your chest. The best are fitted jackets that stop around waist level. Blazer, leather, and jean jackets work amazingly.

5. Invest in a few good bras

Multiple people probably said this to you already but a good fitting bra will change your life and alleviate back pain. It can help with any back pain or shoulder pain, improve posture, and make your bust look better. Victoria’s Secret does not cater to big busts! They only go up to DDD and really you could be a G (yes we do exist) or bigger. You need to go to a bra boutique or venture online to a website which caters to larger busts. I recommend Bare Necessities for your more basic bras. They have fit experts that you can chat with to match you with your true size. When I’m wearing more casual and loose loungewear my absolute favorite bra is this True and Co. bra. It’s so supportive and lifts the bust without any underwires! It’s a must have.

These are just some of the guidelines I like to stick to and work for my body which is mainly pretty average besides my large chest. Sure there are down sides to having big breasts. There’s a point where excessive breast tissue is no longer welcomed and your bra size is halfway up the alphabet. I hope these tips help someone out there because I wish I had known these things when I was growing up to avoid hiding my chest under 3 sports bras and baggie hoodies for years.
